Why We Built Metro Diaries — The Story Behind the Idea
Every day, millions of people ride the Delhi Metro and remain strangers. This is the story of why we built Metro Diaries — and what we believe your commute can become.

Every day, millions of people ride the Delhi Metro. They stand on the same platform, board the same coach, travel the same route — and yet, they remain strangers.
We've been those strangers.
One of us once met someone on the Yellow Line heading to the same college fest. They talked for 20 minutes, exchanged numbers, and never spoke again. That moment stayed — not because of the conversation, but because of how easily it could have never happened.
That's when the question surfaced: what if there was a way to find people who travel your route, every day?
The Problem Nobody Talks About
Delhi Metro moves over 60 lakh people daily. It's one of the most connected transit systems in the world — yet socially, it's completely disconnected. You don't know who's sitting next to you. You don't know if someone from your college, your office, or your neighbourhood is in the same coach.
There's no way to say, "Hey, I travel from Rajiv Chowk to Huda City Centre every evening at 6 — does anyone else?"
That gap between being physically close and socially invisible is what Metro Diaries was built to fix.
What Metro Diaries Actually Does
It's simple. You sign up, post your daily metro trips, and discover others on the same route and time. You can connect, chat, and eventually travel together.
Think of it as a travel companion platform — not a dating app, not a social network. Just a place where daily commuters can stop being strangers.
- Post your trip — your route, your time, your schedule
- Find co-travellers — matched by station, time, and direction
- Connect and chat — real-time messaging with people on your route
- Stay safe — verification, face detection, and full control over who you connect with
Why Not Just Use Instagram or WhatsApp?
Because they weren't built for this. You can't search "who else takes the Blue Line at 8:30 AM" on Instagram. You can't discover a co-traveller on WhatsApp unless someone adds you to a random group.
Metro Diaries is purpose-built for metro commuters. Every feature — from the station picker to the trip matcher — is designed around how people actually travel on the Delhi Metro.
The Bigger Vision
Metro Diaries started as a side project. We didn't have a team, a budget, or a fancy office. Just two people who believed that the metro doesn't have to be lonely.
Today, we're building something that could change how millions of people experience their daily commute. Not with a radical new technology — but with a simple idea: your metro ride is better when you're not alone.
We're just getting started. New features are coming — metro line guides, community stories, smarter matching, and more. But at the core, Metro Diaries will always be about one thing: turning strangers into companions, one ride at a time.
A Note to Every Metro Rider
If you've ever wished your commute was less boring, less lonely, or just a little more human — Metro Diaries is for you. We built this because we've been there: standing on a crowded platform, earphones in, staring at nothing.
You deserve a better ride. Let's make it happen together.
